New Method Identifies Indica-Japonica Rice Varieties with 86% Accuracy!
Scientists have found a way to tell apart Indica and Japonica rice varieties by looking at specific heat-stable proteins. They studied 85 types of rice and discovered that certain protein bands, like the 45.2kD and 46.5kD bands, are unique to Japonica rice, while the 42.0kD band is specific to Indica rice. By analyzing these bands, they were able to correctly identify the rice types with an accuracy of 80.0% for Indica and 86.4% for Japonica. This method could be useful for distinguishing between the two types of rice.
