A new type of maize called TangYu 15 was created in 1997 by combining two different maize plants. This new maize is special because it grows a lot of corn, is resistant to diseases, matures quickly, is easy to grow, and produces a lot of seeds. It was approved in 2002 and is now being used more widely.
