Straw mulching at 0.6 kg/m2 boosts winter wheat yield significantly.
The study looked at how different amounts of straw covering affected soil moisture, temperature, and the growth of winter wheat. They tested four amounts of straw mulching: none, 0.3 kg/m2, 0.6 kg/m2, and 0.9 kg/m2. The results showed that using 0.6 kg/m2 of straw mulching helped retain water, kept the soil warmer, and led to the highest wheat yield. This means that using 0.6 kg/m2 of straw mulching is the best for growing winter wheat.
