New Land Use Classification in China Threatens Cultivated Land and Ecology
The article investigates how a new land use classification system in China can impact land administration. By analyzing documents, the researchers found that the new system can improve cultivated land quality conservation and cadastral management. However, combining certain types of land could lead to issues in managing land quality. The classification of residential land may overlook some areas, and the absence of ecological land type could harm conservation efforts. To address these issues, land administration should adapt to local conditions by subdividing the classification, improving land quality evaluation, and establishing an ecological hearing institution for land development projects.
