Tectonic Control Unveiled: New Oil and Gas Exploration Targets Discovered!
The researchers studied how the shape of the land and movements in the Earth's crust affected where sediment was deposited in the Shahejie Formation in the southern Bohai Sea. They found that different areas in the Laizhouwan sag had different features, like slopes and gullies, which influenced the formation of fan delta and braided river delta sand bodies. These sand bodies are important for finding oil and gas reserves.
