The study looked at rocky desertification in Karst mountains in Panxian County, Guizhou Province. They found that slight rocky desertification is mainly in shrub land, while moderate desertification is in grass slopes. Intense desertification is in rocky dry-land. Slight and moderate desertification are caused by human activities, while intense desertification is due to natural factors. In some areas, intense land use led to more severe desertification. Different areas require different rehabilitation measures based on the causes of desertification.
