Erosion Dominates Yangtze River Estuary, Shifting Sandbanks and Landforms.
The researchers analyzed erosion and deposition in the Yangtze River Estuary using sediment data and GIS technology. They studied changes in landforms over time and found that erosion dominated in some areas while deposition was more prominent in others. The southern branch of the estuary experienced severe erosion, causing major sandbanks to shift southwest. The amount of sediment flowing into the sea from the Yangtze River played a significant role in shaping the middle sandbanks.
