Study reveals risk of flooding from Huanghe River to Weihe River
The study evaluated the risk of water flowing backward from the Huanghe River to the Weihe River, focusing on flood prevention. By analyzing historical data and satellite images, the researchers found that larger floods in the Huanghe River lead to more water flowing backward into the Weihe River, causing higher water levels and increased risk of flooding in certain areas. The highest risk regions are near the main stream in Xiaobei and riverside areas like Tongguan and Huayin. The movement of the Weihe River's estuary towards the Huanghe River contributes to this risk, leading to smaller riverbeds and higher flood potential. To reduce the risk, integrated watershed management and changes in river stages are recommended.
