Tibetan Plateau sees significant increase in annual precipitation over four decades.
The study analyzed rainfall changes in the Tibetan Plateau from 1961 to 2000. It found that overall, annual precipitation increased by 1.12 mm per year during this period. Spring and summer showed significant variations in rainfall, while autumn and winter had less noticeable changes. The southern region experienced a greater increase in annual precipitation compared to the northern region. An abrupt change in precipitation was detected in 1978 across the Tibetan Plateau, with a separate abrupt change in the southern region in 1994.
