Marginal coal sections in Zhenchengdi Coal Mine were causing problems due to faults, weak roofs, and pressure. To extend the mine's life, a new mining technique called light support top coal caving was used to recover coal and pillars effectively. This approach helped in mining marginal coal areas and small coal pillars, leading to positive outcomes.
