The linguist DUAN Yu-cai used Materialism and Dialectic thoughts to analyze Shuo Wen Jie Zi. He focused on studying language practically, checking language phenomena with a developing attitude, and examining language with the idea that Form reflects Content. His approach was to look at language phenomena from both antagonistic and unified perspectives.
