Revolutionary Study: Enhancing Oocyte Maturation and Cryopreservation in Pigs
The study looked at factors affecting the maturation of pig oocytes in a lab setting and how they can be frozen for preservation. They found that removing hormone supplements from the culture media after 24 hours improved oocyte maturation. Oocytes matured better in media containing 10% ECS compared to 10% NCS. Adding porcine follicular fluid to the media hindered oocyte maturation. Oocytes from larger follicles had higher maturation rates. Oocytes at the MⅡ stage were better at surviving freezing compared to those at the GV stage. After thawing, oocytes at the MⅡ stage had a higher rate of normal appearance compared to those at the GV stage.
