Innovative bridge design withstands harsh conditions on remote island.
The Wusu Bridge in Heixiazi Island was designed as a long cantilever steel box composite girder cable-stayed bridge with a single pylon and a span arrangement of 140+140m. The main girder consists of a steel box girder, steel cantilevers, and concrete deck slabs. The pylon is a single column concrete structure 117m in height. The bridge was designed to withstand torsion and shear lag effects, with the shear stress meeting requirements and the torsional angle not affecting the bridge's function. The strength and crack width of the deck slabs also meet code requirements.
