Land use changes in Changling County driven by population increase and agriculture shift.
A study used satellite data to track changes in land use in Changling county, China, from 1981 to 2000. They found that during this period, the area of arable land, forests, and saline-alkali land increased, while grassland decreased significantly. Water and residential land saw minor changes, and wasteland was put to use. The main reasons for these changes were population growth and adjustments in agricultural land use.
