A study in an oasis area looked at using green manure instead of some chemical fertilizer on wheat crops. In the first year, wheat yield went down with more green manure, but soil nutrients increased. In the second year, more green manure led to higher wheat yield, with a mix of green manure and fertilizer giving the best results. Replacing some fertilizer with green manure improved soil health and crop yield, benefiting both the environment and the economy.
