Provenance systems shape sandbodies in Bohai Bay Basin, impacting exploration targets.
The sedimentation of the upper Es4 in Guangli area of the Dongying Sag, the Bohai Bay Basin was influenced by two provenance systems: one from the south and one from the northeast. The southern provenance led to meander river delta and shallow lake-beach bars, while the northeastern provenance resulted in braided river delta and fan delta. During the middle period, both provenance systems coexisted, creating sandbodies with gravity flow and traction current deposits. Beach bars formed from longshore current modifications are important exploration targets.
