Massive Mesozoic Lake Basin Unveiled in Ordos Basin Analysis.
The study looked at the sedimentary layers in a lake basin in China during the Triassic period. They found that the sediments came from different directions around the basin, with the main sources in the northeast and southwest. The sedimentary layers were mainly delta and lake deposits, with different sub-facies and microfacies. Over time, the lake area decreased, and turbidite deposits increased, becoming the main reservoir. The dark mudstone in the area was identified as a high-quality source rock.
