New bridge design withstands earthquakes and extreme temperatures, ensuring safety.
The Huhehaote-Zhungeer Railway Huanghe River Bridge was designed as a prestressed concrete hybrid bridge to span the river. The main girder is made of C55 concrete with a three-way prestressing system. The main piers are hollow and supported on frictional pile foundations. Large movement expansion joints and sliding bearings were used to accommodate temperature changes. Analysis showed the bridge meets requirements for rigidity, strength, and seismic resistance. The bridge was constructed using the cantilever casting method, closing the side spans first and the central span last.
