Optimizing nitrogen levels boosts winter potato yield and growth efficiency.
The study looked at how different levels of nitrogen and top dressing affected the growth and dry matter accumulation of winter potatoes. They found that increasing nitrogen delayed the growth stages of the potatoes, while adjusting the top dressing had less impact. The amount of nitrogen applied should first meet the needs of the roots, stems, and leaves, then increasing the top dressing can help with overall dry matter accumulation and distribution to different parts of the plant. The recommended nitrogen application is 150 g/hm2, split evenly between base fertilizer and top dressing.
