The researchers conducted a model experiment to improve the waterway engineering of Zhangjiazhou Nangang downstream in the Changjiang River. By analyzing the lower shallow area, they implemented engineering from 2001-2003, resulting in the disappearance of the shallow area and significant improvement in waterway conditions. The waterway now meets maintenance dimensions and construction standards set for the Changjiang trunk waterway.
