The way nitrogen fertilizer is spread on maize fields affects the yield and profit. When half of the nitrogen is applied at the beginning and the other half later, the maize yield and profit are higher. This method resulted in a yield of 3,752 kg per hectare and a profit of 15,234 yuan per hectare, with a nitrogen fertilizer efficiency of 42.1%.
