A new peanut variety called Zhanyou 30 was created by crossing two other varieties. It is resistant to rust and water lodging, has high yield, good quality, and a high shelling percentage. In trials, it produced more pods per hectare than the control variety, Shanyou 523. The variety was approved for cultivation in South China after passing evaluations in 1999 and 2002.
