Constructed wetlands, like the one at Maliaohe River, can help control lake pollution. The wetland removed 44.21% of nitrogen, 46.03% of phosphorus, and 86.6% of suspended solids. The speed of water entering the wetland affected nitrogen removal, while the type of soil in the wetland affected phosphorus removal.
