Climate change in Inner Mongolia leads to significant loss of grassland areas.
The impact of climate change on grasslands in Inner Mongolia was studied. The research found that grassland areas decreased significantly, with the southern boundary shifting northwards. Forest steppe disappeared, and grassland production decreased, especially in desert steppe areas. Grassland types shifted spatially in the east and south, while production rapidly decreased in the arid west. The study also showed that grasslands are sensitive to temperature increases.
