Increasing maize planting density boosts yields and nutrient accumulation for higher productivity.
Planting more maize plants in a field can increase grain yield. Two maize cultivars were studied at different planting densities. The highest yield was achieved at the highest planting density tested. Increasing planting density led to more light interception, higher dry matter and nitrogen accumulation, and improved grain yield. The study suggests that higher planting densities can boost photosynthesis, increase light absorption, and enhance nutrient accumulation, ultimately leading to better crop yields.
