The researchers analyzed sedimentary faces in the Chang 6~2 oil reservoir group in the Western Mahuangshan area of the Ordos Basin. They studied rock cores, sedimentary structures, and logging data to identify the types of sedimentary microfaces present. The results showed that underwater distributaries channels and mouth bars are the main types of reservoir in the area, which could be potential exploration targets.
