Cryopreservation breakthrough could revolutionize livestock breeding and food production.
The scientists looked at ways to freeze and preserve goat eggs. They tested different freezing techniques and substances to see what worked best. They found that using the OPS vitrification method was better than other freezing methods for preserving the eggs. When comparing cryoprotectants, using 20% ethylene glycol and 20% dimethylsulphoxide showed better results in the OPS vitrification method. However, for conventional freezing, using 1.5 mol/L ethylene glycol was better than using 1.5 mol/L 1,2-propanediol. This research helps us understand how to successfully freeze goat eggs for potential future use.
