Intercropping maize and soybean boosts yield and profits significantly.
Intercropping maize with soybean can increase dry matter accumulation and economic benefits. The study compared intercropping and monoculture patterns of maize and soybean. Results showed that intercropping had higher dry matter accumulation than monoculture maize, especially after silking. Monoculture soybean had higher dry matter accumulation than intercropping before and after flowering. Dry matter translocation was higher in monoculture than intercropping. Intercropping had a higher yield and output value compared to monoculture, showing potential for improving grain yield and economic benefits.
