Land use changes on Loess Plateau impact watershed sustainability.
The study looked at changes in land use in Wangdonggou watershed on the Loess Plateau. They used landscape ecology and quantitative geography methods to analyze the area from 1986 to 2002. The research found that from 1986 to 1994, there were significant increases in landscape structures and land use proportions. However, the concentration of land use was becoming more decentralized. Overall, land use changed significantly from 1986 to 1994, but not as much from 1994 to 2002. This suggests that different measures should be taken at different stages to control erosion on the Loess Plateau.
