Plastic Mulch and Pre-Sowing Irrigation Boost Spring Wheat Yields
The study looked at how using plastic film and watering before planting affects the growth and yield of spring wheat. Watering before planting made the soil cooler, which isn't great for seedlings. Using plastic film to cover the soil helped keep it warm and moist, which helped the wheat grow better at first. But later on, it actually hurt the wheat's yield. Overall, combining watering before planting with using plastic film for 60 days increased the wheat's yield and how efficiently it used water.
