New missile warhead control scheme improves accuracy and target coverage.
The researchers developed a new control and aiming method for missiles with gimbaled warheads. By creating a model of how the missile and target move relative to each other, they were able to optimize the spray distance of fragments to hit the target accurately. They also calculated the fuse booming delay time needed for the fragments to explode at the right moment. Simulation results showed that this new aiming scheme can effectively control the direction of the warhead, even with some measurement errors.
