Grassland degradation in Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau edge regions threatens ecosystem balance.
Grasslands in Tianzhu County on the edge of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau are degrading due to factors like climate change, overgrazing, pests, and illegal use. The grass cover, height, and yield have decreased significantly since the 1950s, with a decline in important grass species and an increase in less desirable plants. About 34.4% of the grassland area is degraded. To ensure sustainable use of the grasslands, it is important to address these issues and implement strategies to protect and improve the grassland ecosystem.
