The study looked at how productive insurance companies in China were from 1999 to 2003. They found that overall productivity improved by 15.9%, mainly due to better techniques. However, the efficiency of how companies used their resources didn't improve much over time. This could slow down the growth of productivity in the future, especially because some companies were better at using their resources than others.
