Drought-resistant ramie plants can handle dry conditions better than sensitive ones. When faced with drought, resistant plants keep more water, have stable cell membranes, and resist wilting. Their peroxidase activity increases, while sensitive plants show the opposite trend. Drought-sensitive plants have higher proline levels under mild stress, but resistant plants accumulate proline faster under severe stress.
