Exogenous Glutathione Boosts Pepper Growth and Fights Crop Decline.
The researchers studied how adding glutathione to pepper plants affected their growth under stress. They found that when pepper leaves were treated with glutathione, their chlorophyll content and photosynthesis improved, while the accumulation of CO2 decreased. This helped the plants overcome the negative effects of autotoxicity, a problem that can occur when plants are grown continuously in the same soil. The best concentrations of glutathione for the two pepper varieties tested were 50 mg/L and 30 mg/L. Overall, adding glutathione helped the pepper plants grow better and stay healthy despite the challenges they faced.
