The study looked at how phosphorus is lost in runoff from sloping maize fields. They found that runoff increased with steeper slopes, with the most runoff on a 20° slope. Sediment and phosphorus loss also increased with slope. The main form of phosphorus loss was dissolved in the runoff, and this increased with slope as well.
