Constructed wetlands revolutionize sewage treatment in small towns, improving water quality.
Constructed wetlands are a cost-effective and efficient way to treat sewage in small towns. In Yongchuan City, these wetlands showed high removal rates for pollutants like CODcr, BOD5, SS, NH3-N, and TP. The removal rates for CODcr, BOD5, and SS were around 90%, while NH3-N and TP had removal rates of 83% and 72% respectively. The treatment also had better removal rates for nitrogen and phosphorus compared to other methods. The discharged water quality from the constructed wetlands was better than the standard for urban sewage farms.
