New Rice Cultivation Method Boosts Yields by 18% in China.
The study aimed to understand how a new rice cultivation method called RQICC can increase grain yield in Yunnan Province, China. Field experiments were conducted at different elevations in 2008 and 2009. Results showed that RQICC increased grain yield by 16-18% compared to conventional methods. This increase was mainly due to more spikelets per square meter, achieved by increasing panicle and tiller rates and using nitrogen fertilizer. The study concluded that having enough spikelets per square meter is crucial for high grain yield in rice cultivation.
