New research shows how to control floods at Yellow River site
The research focused on studying the river regime and flood control at the Yellow river passing-through work of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project. Findings show that the river near Gubaizui is stable, making it suitable for construction. Narrowing the river width to 2.8-3.2 km is feasible. The tunnel scheme has less impact on the river regime compared to other construction options. If the tunnel scheme is implemented, the maximum scoured water depth would be 9.48-11.6 m, while the aqueduct scheme would result in a depth of 16.41-24.12 m.
