Tibetan Plateau farmland soil respiration peaks at surprising times.
Soil respiration in farmlands in the Tibetan Plateau varies daily and seasonally. Winter wheat and Tibet barley farmlands have different peak and low points of soil respiration. Soil respiration is highest during the grouting period, then decreases after harvest. Soil CO2 emission is closely linked to 5 cm soil temperature. Root respiration accounts for about 40% of total soil respiration.
