Soil particle fractal dimension predicts soil nutrients and degradation in oasis.
Researchers studied soil particles in a desert-oasis area to understand their distribution and composition. They found that the soil texture was mostly sandy, with little silt and clay. The fractal dimension of soil particles ranged from 2.105 to 2.609, increasing towards the oasis. Sand content had a negative correlation with fractal dimension, while silt, clay, and soil nutrients had a positive correlation. Changes in clay content had the most significant impact on fractal dimension. This suggests that soil particle fractal dimension can be used to assess soil nutrients and degradation in desert-oasis areas.
