New study reveals extreme tidal currents in Zhanjiang Bay.
The researchers used a computer model to study tidal currents in Zhanjiang Bay. They found that the bay experiences two high and low tides each day, with fast currents reaching up to 104 cm/s. The flow near the shore, estuaries, and channels is back and forth. The strongest surface current moves at 30 cm/s outward from the bay.
