Low salinity threatens survival of Babylonia lutosa juveniles, impacting ecosystem balance.
The study looked at how different levels of salt in the water affect the growth and survival of young Babylonia lutosa snails. They found that the snails grew the fastest in medium salt levels. Snails in low salt levels could survive, but had trouble eating and growing. Gradual changes in salt levels helped the snails survive better than sudden changes. Overall, the snails could survive in a wider range of salt levels if the changes were gradual, but their growth was limited.
