New cable-stayed bridge design in Ningbo enhances urban aesthetics and functionality.
The Shitang Hengjiang River Bridge on Hangzhou Bay Road in Ningbo was designed as a cable-stayed bridge with a single pylon to meet both aesthetic and functional needs. The bridge has a main span arrangement of (33+42+51+44) m and a deck width of 40.5 m. It features a unique design with arch-shaped columns and a steel-concrete joint section. The construction involved hoisting the pylon segment by segment and casting the main girder in place on scaffoldings. Finite element calculations showed that the bridge is strong, rigid, and stable enough to meet requirements.
