Low-quality drinking water in rural Donghai County raises health concerns.
The goal of the study was to check the quality of drinking water in rural areas of Donghai County in 2011. They tested 332 water samples and found that only 51.8% met the standards. The wet season had a slightly higher pass rate of 56.4% compared to 46.9% in the dry season. Both finished and peripheral water had similar pass rates. The main issues were high levels of bacteria, turbidity, and nitrate nitrogen in the water. This suggests that rural drinking water in Donghai County needs better disinfection and purification to prevent water-borne diseases.
