Revolutionary Magnesium-based Desulfurization Boosts Marine Air Quality Dramatically
A study tested a new method using magnesium-seawater to clean up sulfur from ship emissions. They found that this method worked better than using just seawater because it could handle a wider range of conditions. The key factors for success were the pH level, how much liquid was used compared to gas, and how fast the gas was moving. The best results were seen when the gas speed was 0.5m/s, the liquid to gas ratio was 10L/m3, and the pH level was 7.5.
