Insects in Tongbiguan Nature Reserve in Yunnan were studied in 2003. A total of 6633 insects from 783 species were found in different habitats. The insect population was small, with many species having low abundance. The diversity of insects was linked to the variety of plant species and the elevation of the habitat. Seasonal rain forests had the highest diversity, while mid-mountain forests had the lowest.
