The study analyzed China's service industry productivity from 2005 to 2009 using a nonparametric Malmquist index method. The research found that overall, China's service industry is growing but at a slower rate. The Eastern region has higher service development levels compared to the Midwest, with the Northeast and Northwest lagging behind. Technical progress and efficiency impact productivity differently across regions and over time.
