New system predicts pollution in Taihu Lake basin, aiding prevention efforts.
Non-point source pollution is a major cause of water pollution in Taihu Lake basin. A new system was created to estimate this pollution load more accurately. By simplifying the calculations, the system found that in 2005, Wuxi City had 8,014.43 tons of nitrogen pollution, mostly from agriculture and daily waste water. This system helps understand pollution sources and their impact on the environment in a practical way.
