New model predicts tree height in plantations, improving accuracy and efficiency.
The researchers developed a model to predict the height of Acacia mangium trees in South Sumatra plantations. They used six different growth functions and found that the Lundqvist-Korf model performed the best. Adding stand variables like age and site quality improved the accuracy of predicting tree heights. The new generalized model with these variables showed a significant decrease in error and an increase in the proportion of variation explained.
